Firstly, we have a company that is going to manage the station for us.
We have another providing us with quality music and inspirational films.
We have a place where we plan to use as a studio for live studio
airing. The studio has to be setup well. So it is more than just paying
for the service. We have a relay server center here in Africa. So there
are other operational costs.
Now it is more important to speak about
the satellite than even about us. Over Africa, there are several
satellites. But ours (Intelsat 20 KU Band) is the best. Firstly, it has
the highest Christian viewership in Africa. Every popular Christian TV
station is on this Satellite. Other satellites like Amos-5, W4 and W2
hardly have a Christian following. There are popular Satellite services
like DSTV, Star times, Go TV across the African continent originating
from South Africa. Even TBN shows on DSTV. The challenge nobody gets a
DSTV Kit in order to watch TBN. Every African who watches DSTV most
possibly is not Christian. In fact, the trend is Christians shun
Stations like DSTV that are a majority-secular. In fact TBN is the only
christian station on DSTV, Africa's most popular Satellite TV Provider. All
other Christian TV stations in Africa are on the satellite we are on. So
we definitely have audience by virtue of being on Intelsat.
You can
tell anyone you reach that by broadcasting with us, they are reaching 85% of
Christian Viewership in Africa. Leave Africa alone, even Europe and
England in general.
Anyone who is willing to pay, from $600 (the
minimum slot cost) to $3,000 can use our service. I have never met any of these Christians. None of these American Christians has
been to my country. But I can tell you they I have
followed their programs for decades. I can attest they are known by
scores of millions if not hundreds of millions whom they have never met
and whose countries they have never visited.
I believe I sent you an
email before with a list of the popular stations on the Intelsat. One
key thing is choosing the best Satellite for broadcast.
What we are
asking for is just a small fraction of their budget. Other ministries
spend hundreds of millions on TV alone annually. Some ministries are
shocked when I tell them what we are charging. It seems too good to be
true. I am tempted to think some may not believe us because our prices
are lower than expected. We have looked at our business model and we
think it should work out very well.
